Live Marketing Measurement Lab by Sagar Merugu

A Live Marketing Measurement Lab

This site demonstrates end-to-end GA4 eCommerce tracking, Google Tag Manager event architecture, and server-side tagging — using a fully functional WooCommerce store as the measurement environment. Every product view, cart action, and checkout step fires real analytics events you can observe and validate.

Free Shipping

Simulates a free-shipping conversion threshold — used to test how incentive messaging affects add_to_cart rates and checkout completion.

Secure Checkout

Full purchase funnel — begin_checkout, add_payment_info, and purchase events fire at each checkout step, with transaction_id and revenue parameters passed to GA4.

Performance Optimized

Core Web Vitals optimized so that page speed never distorts analytics data — ensuring measurement reliability across LCP, FID, and CLS metrics.

Easy Returns

Refund events are instrumented in GA4 to simulate post-purchase measurement — demonstrating how returns and cancellations are tracked in enhanced eCommerce reporting.

Best Selling Products

Each product below is fully instrumented with GA4 eCommerce events. Clicking a product fires view_item. Adding to cart fires add_to_cart with item_id, item_name, price, and currency parameters. Completing a purchase fires the purchase event with full order-level data including transaction_id, revenue, and item array. All events are implemented via Google Tag Manager using a dataLayer push architecture.

Basil Leaf

Farm Fresh Fruits

This category simulates product_list_view events on page load and item-level scroll depth tracking. Use it to observe how user engagement with a product list is measured in GA4 — including which items were seen versus which were clicked.

Fresh Vegetables

Category pages fire view_item_list on load and select_item on product click — allowing measurement of product-level click-through rates within a list. This is the foundation of GA4 eCommerce funnel analysis.

Organic Legume

This layout tests add_to_cart event firing with variant-level parameters — item_variant, item_category, and quantity — demonstrating how product configuration data flows through the GTM dataLayer into GA4 reports.

Deal Of The Day 15% Off On All Vegetables!

This time-limited offer simulates a flash promotion event. It is used to test how urgency-based campaigns affect conversion rates and to validate that GA4 captures the correct coupon_code and discount parameters when a time-limited offer is applied at checkout.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the purpose of this website?

This website is a marketing analytics measurement lab built by Sagar Merugu. It uses a WooCommerce eCommerce store as a live demonstration environment to showcase how GA4 eCommerce tracking, Google Tag Manager event architecture, and server-side tagging are implemented in a real website context. It is not a real store — no actual products are sold.

The site runs Google Analytics 4 (GA4) with enhanced eCommerce measurement enabled, Google Tag Manager (GTM) for tag and event management, and a server-side GTM container for server-to-server data collection. Analytics data is exported to BigQuery for deeper analysis, and Looker Studio is used for visualization and reporting.

The following GA4 eCommerce events are instrumented: view_item_list (category page), select_item (product click), view_item (product page load), add_to_cart (cart button click), begin_checkout (checkout initiation), add_payment_info (payment step), purchase (order confirmation), and refund (return simulation). Each event passes relevant eCommerce parameters including item_id, item_name, item_category, price, quantity, currency, and transaction_id

WooCommerce pushes eCommerce data into the GTM dataLayer on each user action. Google Tag Manager listens for these dataLayer events using custom event triggers and fires corresponding GA4 Event tags. A server-side GTM container receives tag requests from the browser container, processes them server-side, and forwards clean data to GA4 — bypassing browser-based ad blockers and improving data accuracy.

Yes. The store is fully functional and requires no registration. You can browse products, add items to cart, and complete a simulated checkout to observe how each GA4 event fires and what parameters are passed to the analytics containers.
